Femen - Femininity as a political happening

23.05.2012  19:00 MONAliesa e.V. in the Bernhard-Göring-Straße 152

Lecture: Andrea Priebe, M.A., Dorothee Marth, M.A.

Under the slogan "Ukraine is not a brothel" young women were protesting for the first time in 2008 in Kiev. Since then, the group FEMEN regularly staged itself to draw publicity to women's rights. In provocative poses, by offensively displaying their own physicality, they criticize sex tourism, forced prostitution and sexual harassment of women.
May this over-subscription of the alleged female weakness be the key to an innovative feminist commitment?

Armenian Painting

23.05.2012 19:00  in the Moritzbastei - Ratstonne

Spring is colors, and we want to present spring colors with Armenian painting: from the book painting and iconography of more than thousand years of history until present day painting in Armenia and Diaspora. An Armenian painter himself, Archi Galentz, will present and explain the interesting details of Armenian painting. The evening will be accompanied by Armenian songs with guitar dedicated to spring and nature which will represent epochs of painting history.

The event is organized by the Armenian Student Association of University Leipzig .
The Armenian Student Association was founded in 2003 by theUniversity’s Armenian Students. The aim is to introduce the Armenian culture and history by organizing cultural and social events. Leipzig was an important cultural center already in the end of 19th century for Armenian students, who have founded here the Armenian Academic Association in 1860.
